Sr. BAS Technician – Ontario – GTA
Service Department: ( Looking for multiple people, building a team 5+)
Description:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the BAS Service Technician is accountable for directly programming, commissioning and system verification of electronic end devices and third party integration devices connected to the building automation system.
These activities include a strong working knowledge of HVAC components, software, electronic technology, and networking.
This position commands flexible working hours as per various project requirements, and working with external parties (consultants/commissioning agents) for in-depth system related verification (LEED).

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, test & troubleshoot low voltage power equipment and systems, network communications, end devices, peripherals, valves & actuators, relays and sensors as part of the commissioning process

• Commission BAS systems, end to end verification and report any anomalies.

• Assist in verifying the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems related to the BAS.

• Utilizing software, simulate sequence of operations to verify proper operating parameters of systems and their performance

• Programming of HVAC equipment via software and verify system performance.

• Provide commissioning verification checklists to the Project Manager on conclusion of commissioning projects.

• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment & mechanical components and how it is related to control strategies and theories.

• Ensure the inspection, testing, adjusting and evaluation of low voltage electronic components and assemblies to ensure conformance with product specifications and tolerances as per manufacturer recommendations.

• Verify network connectivity and integration to third party systems to communicate via software for building automation systems.

• Calibrate electrical or electronic equipment and instruments according to technical manuals and written instructions

• Collect and compile operational data and assist in the preparation of specifications and reports for related projects of responsibility.

• Ability of working at heights – Proper use/inspection and assembly of Fall Protection or Fall Restraint systems.

• Perform and follow proper shutdown/lockout of electrical systems.

• In certain instances, operate and use mobile powered elevating devices applicable for on-site tasks as required.

• Being able to drive to and from work sites on a daily / regular basis. This may involve daytime / night time driving dependent on scheduling of shifts due to client requirements.

• Ability of working off ladders to a height of 10-12 feet for commissioning, functional testing, end to end verification of devices and troubleshooting of equipment.

Main skills required:

• Skilled in programming, commissioning, and graphic design.

• Advanced knowledge of DDC/Mechanical service troubleshooting.

• Thorough understanding of control theory and control concepts.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, Visio and strong PC skills.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).

• CET designation would be an asset.

Experience required:

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience.

• Knowledge of automation systems, HVAC, electrical concepts and building operations.
